Review ~ Cheater's Regret by Rachel Van Dyken

Cheater's Regret (Curious Liaisons, #2)Cheater's Regret by Rachel Van Dyken
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was another great read by Rachel Van Dyken. It was exactly what I needed as i recovered from an annoying January cold. Cheater's Regret made me chuckle, kept me engaged, and i couldn't put it down. I loved the connection between the characters and the banter that flowed back and forth. It was broken up with a few more angsty or emotional moments, but for the most part it was a light-hearted read.

I can't wait for the next RVD release!

Review ~ When We Touch by Tia Louise

When We TouchWhen We Touch by Tia Louise
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A quick easy read. I raced through When We Touch in a matter of hours. It held my attention well and kept me entertained. I still prefer her Prince and the Player series, but this was a good second chance romance.

Review ~ Thrive (Guardian Protection, #2) by Aly Martinez

Thrive (Guardian Protection, #2)
eARC received via Inkslinger PR in exchange for an honest review

Release Date: January 18th 2018

Publisher: Self-published

Description:
Technically, you aren’t supposed to fall in love with your best friend’s girl.

But if we’re talking technicalities, he wasn’t supposed to be cheating on her every other weekend, either.

The day I met Mira York, I knew she was off-limits. But after months of stealing side-glances while he ruined the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen, I realized there wasn’t a rule in the world I wouldn’t break to make her mine.

She chose him anyway.

I wasn’t sure how I’d ever move on, but bitterness turned into fuel for my fire.

Without Mira, I thrived.

Until seventeen years later, when she showed back up, begging for protection from the very same man she’d left me for all those years earlier.

Now, it was my turn to choose.

And she wasn’t going to like my answer.

THRIVE takes place seventeen years AFTER a love triangle.

My Opinion

I never quite know what I'm going to get with this author. I have loved her previous work, but I've also been disappointed by some titles. It's a bit hit or miss and I seem to only have extremes when I read Martinez's work: love or hate. Thrive finally seemed to break that pattern.

While I didn't hate this book, I didn't love it either, not like I loved Transfer or The Darkest Sunrise. Thrive held my attention, but I felt it was only an okay read. It didn't really draw much of an emotional response for me. I also didn't like the main characters very much. Don't ask me why, I don't know. There was just something stopping me from connecting to Mira and Jeremy.

As for the plot, I liked the idea but I got a bit lost towards the end. Maybe I noticed it more because I've read four outstanding books by this author so I know how good she can be, but the story and writing felt a bit disjointed in Thrive.

Overall, I've read better books by Martinez. It wasn't a bad read but when compared to the tear-jerkers I've read by her in the last few years then it's hard to forget. I'd recommend it if you like this author but if your new to this author then I'd recommend the series aforementioned more.

Review ~ Under Her by Samantha Towle

Under HerUnder Her by Samantha Towle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another enjoyable read by Samantha Towle. I enjoyed the story and the connection between the characters. Under Her kept me up until the early hours of the morning, even though I was sick and needed sleep.

my only minor quibble is that the ending felt rushed. Other than that, I really enjoyed it.

Reviews ~ #Heart, #Holiday & #Bae by Cambria Hebert

#Heart (Hashtag, #6)#Heart by Cambria Hebert
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Back to the standard of books 1,2, and 3! I loved all four characters again in this book. I thought Braeden and Ivy were back to how they originally came across and I much preferred them to in #Selfie and #Poser. I also loved having Rimmel ad Romeo's POV back.

Couldn't put it down!

#Holiday (Hashtag, #6.5)#Holiday by Cambria Hebert
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A sweet little novella that was perfect over the Christmas period. It gave me an extra few pages on these characters and complimented the series.

#Bae (Hashtag, #7)#Bae by Cambria Hebert
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A great conclusion. I'm sad this series is over but it felt right.

Now to take a break from reading to recover.

I would highly recommend this series.

Review ~ #Selfie & #Poser by Cambria Hebert

#Selfie (Hashtag, #4)#Selfie by Cambria Hebert
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

#Poser by Cambria Hebert
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I loved Braeden in Rimmel and Romeo's books. Therefore, I had to start his books straight away. While I enjoyed this instalment I still prefer Romeo and Rimmel.

#Poser (Hashtag, #5)#Selfie and #Poser were good reads. They held my attention, but not as well as #Nerd, #Hater, and #Player. Maybe I'd just ODd on reading since I was on a binge, but Braeden didn't seem like the same character. He'd lost a bit of his spark in this book. Towards the end of #Poser things picked up, but Braeden and Ivy did have a lot to live up too.

Overall they were good reads but not my favourite in the series so far. I'd still recommend them though. On to the next now!

Review ~ #Player by Cambria Hebert

#Player (Hashtag, #3)#Player by Cambria Hebert
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A great conclusion to Rimmel and Romeo's story. I won't say too much for two reasons:
1) I want to get on to reading book 4.
2) I don't want to ruin anything.

Cambria did a great job with the suspense angle in this book. There were numerous threads tied up and all at the right pace. It kept me intrigued and hooked. The chemistry remained intense and I'm still not ready to let Rimmel and Romeo go.

Overall I can't believe I waited so long to read these books. I'd definitely recommend them and I'm off to read book 4.

Review ~ #Hater by Cambria Hebert

#Hater (Hashtag, #2)#Hater by Cambria Hebert
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this one as much as the first. It picked up right where book 1 left off and the intensity was kicked up a notch. I thought the plot was well thought out and everything from the characters to the story was developed well. The book was also paced well.

I apologise for the general and short review but I want to dive into book 3.

I would definitely recommend this series so far.

Review ~ #Nerd by Cambria Hebert

#Nerd (Hashtag, #1)#Nerd by Cambria Hebert
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

How has it taken me so long to read this book? I've seen it around numerous time and the series has always intrigued me yet I never got round to buying it. Thankfully I caught a post saying it was free for the first time ever on Amazon and it gave me the push I needed to start reading this series.

And let me tell you, boy have I been missing out.

I finished #Nerd in under a day. It hooked me immediately and I couldn't put it down. Since I'm still in that weird Christmas to new year limbo week, it was the perfect excuse to spend the day with Rimmel and Roman, and the more I read the more I fell in love with them.

I adored Rimmel and could relate to her more than I would like to admit, especially on preferring the company of animals. Haha! Her clumsiness made me chuckle and I also liked how she didn't fawn over Roman. She was shy, but the right amount since she could be feisty when she needed.

As for their relationship, I definitely felt the connection between them. I was rooting for them the entire way through the book and I'm so glad there's another 2 books because I wasn't ready to let them go yet.

Overall, this book had a bit of everything. Drama, chemistry, sparks, and a few laughs along the way. I'd definitely recommend it and I'm off to read #Hater now.

Review ~ Infraction (Players Game, #2) by Rachel Van Dyken

Infraction (Players Game, #2)
eARC received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

Release Date: January 9th 2018

Publisher: Skyscape

Description:
Pro footballer Miller Quinton would do anything for his best friend and teammate—including “fake dating” his friend’s sister. What no one knows is that seven months ago in Vegas, Miller and Kinsey did a whole lot more than just kiss. Miller knows that this cheerleader is off-limits to him and any guy on the team. Still, he can’t stop himself.

Kinsey’s whole world is on the verge of crumbling. Her dad has cancer. Her overprotective brother is falling apart. Dating Miller may be a fake-out, but he’s the one guy who can make her forget about everything—including all the reasons she stayed away from football players. With each heated moment, Miller feels more like a safe place…even though he’s not safe at all.

Now temptation is testing every rule in the game of love. But how long can they go on playing when winning is a harder goal than either of them imagined?

My Opinion

I've been eagerly awaiting this book since I finished book 1 earlier this year. You're probably all bored of hearing this by now, but Rachel remains one of my favourite authors and her books are second to none. I've yet to find a book by her I don't like. Infraction was no exception.

Miller and Kinsey caught my interest in book 1, especially Miller, and their story didn't disappoint. Filled with all of the ups and downs I expect in a Rachel Van Dyken book, these two held my interest for their entire journey. I felt their connection and they definitely had sparks. Of course, being a brother's best friend romance also made it better because I love that trope.

Overall, another great read by Rachel. I say it every time, but it's true; I would highly recommend this book or any book by this author.
